KENNEDY M. SHANNON, ESQ
Kennedy M. Shannon is a distinguished attorney and consultant with over 15 years of experience in disaster grant management, nonprofit management, federal grant compliance, and diversity & inclusion. Born and raised in the City of Detroit, Kennedy is the first in her family to attend college and has a strong commitment to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
As an expert in federal grant compliance and regulatory requirements, Kennedy has a proven track record of using her excellent communication and organizational skills, along with her vast knowledge of federal grant regulations and funding requirements, to guide clients through the legal and federal guidelines for a variety of grants. She is also an expert grant writer, having secured millions of dollars in grant awards for her clients.
Prior to her current work as an attorney and consultant, Kennedy served as the Assistant Director of Grants Management for the City of Detroit, where she oversaw a grant portfolio of over half a billion dollars. Her experience and expertise in numerous federal programs including CDBG, CDBG-MIT, CDBG-DR, ESG, HOME, and ARPA have made her a subject matter expert in the field.
Kennedy holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Law School, a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy & Public Administration from Michigan State University, and Master’s Certificates in Project Leadership & Project Management and Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University. She is a sought-after speaker and regularly presents at national conferences and seminars.
